What Is Application Security?
Application security is about making software resilient from attack by adversaries who already have access, not just keeping outsiders out. That distinction shapes everything else in this learning center: the goal isn’t a perimeter you defend once, it’s software that stays trustworthy even when an attacker gets a foothold.
This has been core to how Rietta approaches software since the company’s earliest days running web hosting and infrastructure in 1999, security-adjacent work before application security had the name it does now. Our Audit & Attestation work finds where that trust breaks down in a real application, and our Technical Solutions team fixes it, whether that means hardening an existing Rails or Django app, reviewing third-party dependencies, or building security requirements into a team’s process from the start.
If the two-minute version here isn’t enough, Practical Application Security for Developers is our free hour-long course covering this in full. For ongoing reading, Rietta’s cybersecurity coverage is where we write about this in practice.
