Bold Text Can Get You Sued (ADA Title II Explained in 60 Seconds)
Bold, centered text in a Word document or PDF can violate federal law. It looks like a heading, but to a screen reader it is just another paragraph, and under WCAG 2.1, the standard ADA Title II applies to state and local governments, that is a failure. The fix is to use the document’s built-in heading styles. The W3C documents the bold-text approach as failure F2 of Success Criterion 1.3.1.
