Seth Godin shared that the way to success is trust on Dave Ramsey's podcast

While driving to a friend’s birthday party and back tonight, I discovered that Seth Godin had recently appeared on Dave Ramsey’s EntreLeadership podcast (XML Podcast Feed). The EntreLeadership podcast is an excellent show that is on small list of shows that I follow on a regular basis.

The interview was a lot of fun. If you are a software startup owner, or thinking about being one someday, go listen to it now to the September 10th, 2013, Interview with Seth Godin by Dave Ramsey.

You can thank me later!

One of the points that came up in the interview was the massive importance of having a trust brand. That it takes a long time and hard work to build, but without it there will be no business. One of my favorite quotes was the truism that the biggest problem with the race to the bottom is that you may win it! The trust component is so vital that without it, you might as well close up shop and get a job with someone who does have trust.

Seth clearly thought that the trust brand discussion was important because he blogged about it on September 7th, a few days before the interview was released.

Seth Godin has been one of my favorite authors since I read Permission Marketing: Turning Strangers Into Friends And Friends Into Customers (link to Amazon) in 2006 on a flight from Atlanta to Denver. Because he writes about marketing, and changing the world, it’s easy to miss that Seth actually has a Computer Science degree and worked in a software startup before starting his publishing business! For any startup entrepreneur, it is worth reading his work, starting with his website at sethgodin.com.
